Practicum for plant production

Practicum for plant production has 37 ha of arable land and 3 ha of permanent pastures and meadows for livestock, as well as necessary facilities and mechanization for plant production.

Activities of the practicum for plant production are:

• administration of practical classes in the field of plant production according to the study programmes of the College

• administration of exact and demonstration test trials from the field of plant production for the needs of professional and scientific-research work and professional development of teachers

• production of plants and storage of agricultural products

• production, selection and preservation of seed of agricultural crops, processing

The structure of sowing depends on the fodder and feed needs of livestock in the practicum for livestock breeding , as well as on weather conditions and it varies from one year to the next. Sixty percent are meadows and rotation pastures, and the remaining land is used for cultivation of various crops such as wheat, barley, oats, triticale, fodder peas, grain corn, silage corn, sunflowers, rapeseed, phacelia, lupine, vetches and other.  

The College has sufficient mechanization for its entire plant production. The Practicum uses 5 tractors with power ranging between 20 to 110 kW. Machines and tools enable application of modern production technologies of agricultural crops used in the sowing structure. The College also has the necessary machines and equipment for administration of test trials, such as sowing machine and small harvester for small test trials, selector for grain processing, press for cold oil pressing etc.

Students of the first year of study administer their practical training in the practicum and at the end of the practical training they prepare a project assignment divided in groups according to types of work and crops sown on the Practicum grounds. The students subsequently present their project assignments to teachers and fellow students.
